The best art itinerary in Italy in 7 days

Itinerary

The first place to visit is Assisi, birthplace of Saint Francis of Assisi. It is important to visit the basilica which conserves some Giotto and Cimabue’s masterpieces. Free time is on your own to discover some places of the town until you continue to Siena where it is possible to enjoy by yourselves the medieval city and its magic atmosphere. Siena is famous for the Palio, an annual horse racing contest celebrated on July and August. Last stop of the journey: Florence. Upon arrival, dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

Half board accommodation. The first place to visit is Piazza del Duomo where it is possible to see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Campanile and the Baptistery. Near the Piazza there is the Galleria dell’Accademia that is famous for sheltering the Michelangelo’s masterpiece “Da- vid”. It is possible to find also the Basilica of Santa Croce from XII century which has the popular Cimabue’s painting “Crucifix”. In the evening it is possible to visit Pisa in order to admire the architectural complex of Piazza dei Miracoli: the Leaning Tower of Pisa; the Duomo and the Baptistery.

After breakfast the first stop is Padua. Here we find the Basilica of St Anthony of Padua where some Giotto and Donatello’s masterpieces are still preserved. Next stop: Venice, upon arrival you will be taken on a guided tour through the city, so the most touristic places can be visited, such as St Mark’s Square with its homonymous Basilica; the Ducal Palace; the Bridge of Sighs and the prisons. After that, a visit to a crystal factory is scheduled. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

Half accommodations board. Free time is on your own to visit the Murano, Burano and Torcello islands (optional).

After breakfast the first stop will be the lovely Verona. Upon arrival a panoramic sightseeing is enjoyed and then free time is to discover some places of this charming city. Next stop: Lake Como. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

After breakfast a panoramic sightseeing of Milan is scheduled and the next stop to reach will be Bologna, the capital of Italian gastronomy. It is possible to visit the historical city centre which is known for its narrow streets. Free time is on your own to walk through the city. The last stop is San Marino. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.

After breakfast the next stop of the tour is San Marino, where you will find medieval cities beloved by Saint Francis of Assisi. The next stop will be Perugia, in order to visit this fantastic city full of beautiful streets and old defensive walls, the Palazzo dei Priori, the Cathedral, etc. Free time to enjoy the landscape and you will be transferred to Rome in the evening.
