Itinerary

Arrival at Bari airport. Meeting with the driver and transfer to Matera, accommodation in the hotel and free afternoon to enjoy a walk through the cobbled streets of the historic center. Accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the hotel to enjoy a guided walking tour to discover the city known as the “city of stones”: this small and characteristic city is a UNESCO heritage site and was chosen as the European capital of culture. 2019. Matera is one of the oldest cities in the world, the houses are built in rocky caves and it is possible to see how the stone furniture was built. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, meet the driver and departure to Castellana Grotte, a place with caves that derive from the flow of an underground river and flow into the limestone plateau. The most beautiful and famous cave is the White Cave, which has unique stalagmites and stalactites. We continue to Polignano a Mare. Accommodation.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will leave towards to Castel del Monte: an octagonal castle that was built by the will of Federico II and is known as one of the most famous examples of medieval architecture. Free time for lunch and departure to Bari. Once arrived, we will meet our local guide for a walking tour of the city to discover the old town with its characteristic alleys, the Basilica of San Nicola, where the tomb of the saint is located, and the Cathedral of San Sabino, here the relics of the Bishop of Canosa are kept. We will be able to know unique aspects of the gastronomy of this place such as the “orecchiette” pasta or try the typical “Focaccia Barese”. We continue to Mola di Bari, a small town with a charming promenade to admire the Apulian sea, and its historic center. In the late afternoon we will return to Polignano a Mare. Accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Meeting with the driver and our local guide to discover Alberobello through a walking tour of its famous “Trulli”, these buildings are proof of the old rural society which are known throughout the world and are part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. We continue to Locorotondo, a small town a few kilometers away known for the peculiar circular structure of the historic center. In the afternoon we will continue with a guided tour in Martina Franca, known for its Rococo style architecture and as a place of wine production. Return to Polignano a Mare and accommodation.

After breakfast at the hotel, departure to Ostuni, known as “the white city”. We will enjoy a guided tour of this beautiful medieval town, full of small white houses and historic buildings. In the afternoon, we will continue to Lecce: the city called “the Florence of the South” for its art, its churches and its cathedrals. It will also be possible to taste the typical sweet “Pasticciotto Leccese” together with the almond coffee. Then we will return to Gallipoli, arrival at the hotel and accommodation.

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to Otranto, to meet our local guide for a tour where we will visit the Cathedral, the Castello Aragonés and the beautiful historic center. We continue to Porto Badisco, known for its wonderful beaches, on the way we will pass through the Bauxita Mine and then free lunch. In the afternoon, return to Gallipoli for the last tour of the city. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. At the established time, departure to Brindisi airport to take the return flight.
